1994 Global Village Award

Peter Gabriel

1994 marked the 30th. Anniversary of Marshall McLuhan's phrase "The Global Village" it was also the occasion for presenting the first "Marshall McLuhan Global Village Award" to Peter Gabriel.

Musician Composer, Visual Artist

One of the founding members of Genesis 1,

More than ten solo albums

More than 20 million records sold worldwide

1882 Co-founded Womad (World of Music Arts and Dance) bringing together modern and traditional music and dance from around the globe.

1986 "Established "Real World Records"

Real World Media, brainchild of Peter Gabriel, is bringing together experts on pushing the new technology envelope, dedicated to developing and publishing innovative CD-ROMs.

Active in many human rights projects.

1992 founded the Witness Project in conjunction with Reebok US. Aiming to arm human rights activists around the world with video cameras and tools of communication.

1994 Received the first Marshall McLuhan Global Village Award.
